Iowa State Center, Ames, Iowa
The Iowa State Center is a facility for athletic and cultural activities situated in Ames, Iowa, which is part of the central campus of Iowa State University. The center is composed of the Fisher Theater, Hilton Coliseum, Jack Trice Stadium, Scheman Building and Stephens Auditorium. During the plan of its construction in 1954, the ISU Foundation was set up to raise funds for the facility’s construction. The state allocated no funds for its construction. The first donation received from an unidentified donor was two dollars, followed by the donation of C.Y. Stephens of a million dollars. That is whom the Stephens Auditorium was named from.
