Xiangtan: A Historical City in Southeastern China
Located in the province of Hunan, Xiangtan, China is a prefecture-level city, which is known as the birthplace of a handful of the Chinese Communist Party’s founding leaders, as long as a renowned Qing dynasty painter, and a tennis player. Its name came from the geography of the city, with “Xiang” depicting the Xiang River and “Tan” translating to “deep pool.” Settlements in the area were believed to date back to the 3rd millennium BC, before the Ming Dynasty.

Xiangtan experiences a humid subtropical climate marked by long summer days and damp winter days.
