El Portillo Airport – EPS Las Terrenas
El Portillo Airport with code EPS is located in Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic. When the airport is still functional, it is serving the province of Samana in the northern area. The airfield was being used for chartered flights and private operators. Samana is on the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. The region is gifted with mountains and numerous beaches.
Best Time to Visit
El Portillo Airport has ceased operations in February 2012. It was replaced by Samana El Catey International Airport. Camu and Gaspar Hernandez are the two cities surrounding the airport. While it was operational, the airport is being used for private aircraft. It is also being used as a fuel stop for small aircrafts.
