It is a public-type airport located 400m from the Thangool town center and 11km (or a 15-minute drive) south from Biloela town center in Queensland, Australia. It is run by the Banana Shire Council.

Thangool Airport has two runways – one sealed runway and the other is clay-based runway mainly for light aircraft only. There is a spacious aircraft parking apron. Other facilities found in the airport are a recently renovated terminal building with improved amenities and facilities. At present, THG Airport only serves Regular Public Transport (RPT) flights between Thangool and Brisbane. These are operated by QantasLink which flies a total of 9 services per week - once daily on Monday, Friday and Sunday and twice a day during Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Freight services also operate during weekdays. Thangool Airport had played a vital role during calamities like the 2010 flooding in Central Queensland. The rural aerodrome continues to offer regular passenger service between Thangool and Brisbane. The adjacent town of Biloela is one of the areas that markedly benefit from the airport.
