Tokunoshima Airport – TKN
Tokunoshima Airport is an airport in Japan. It is a domestic public airport that is located in Amagi town, District of Ōshima, Kagoshima Prefecture of Japan and serves the Tokunoshima area. Its airport code, TKN, stands for Japan island’s name Tokunoshima. In 1942, the airport was officially opened. In 1970, it was turned over to Kagoshima Prefecture. In 2006, the airport was given to United States’ Marine Corps Air Station Futenma as relocation by then Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama. As of the present the airport continues its operation as a domestic public air facility in Japan.

TKN-Tokunoshima Airport was started as a private venture by Toa Domestic Airlines in 1962. On February 1973, it was designed by Japanese government as a 3rd class airport. From 1080 m runway in 1962 it was extended to 2000 m in 1980 and since then used for handling jet aircraft operations. Tokushima Airport is close to some beautiful cities of Japan such as Oshima-gun Amagi-Cho, and Oshima-gun Ishen-Cho. You can easily drive to them from the airport.
