Abeid Amani Karume International Airport - ZNZ Zanzibar
With flights to and from the Middle East, Europe, and East Africa, Abeid Amani Karume International Airport is the main airport in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Before, it was known as Kisauni Airport or Zanzibar International Airport. It was renamed in 2010 to honor Abeid Amani Karume, the first president of the island. Currently, it is owned by the local government of Zanzibar and operated by Zanzibar Airports Authority.

ZNZ-Abeid Amani Karume International Airport has two (2) passenger terminals. Terminal 1 is for all landing aircrafts. Terminal 2, the construction of which was started in 2011 by the Chinese Beijing Construction Engineering Group, is still being completed as of 2018. Once Terminal 2 is fully up and running, Terminal 1 will serve as the passenger terminal for domestic flights. It has one (1) runway that is 9,865-foot long. Several domestic and international flights take place in Abeid Amani Karume International Airport. Some of the airlines operating in the airport include Air Italy, Ethiopian Airlines, flydubai, Kenya AIrways, Nordwind Airlines, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, and ZanAir. There are also two (2) cargo airlines operating in the airport— Astral Aviation and Kenya Airways Cargo. In 2014, almost a million passengers passed through the airport. Nearby cities include Bandarini, Kunduchi, Ubungo, Dar es Salaam, and Mtoni.
